February Happenings

Well we have a new binder up front with multiple pages of every chemical on our campus.  Law now states that if we have any aerosols on campus, we must have the full chemical make up in the new folder in the office. An aerosol may be defined as a suspension of particles or droplets in the air and includes airborne dusts, mists, fumes or smoke. This means we cannot have diffusers of any kind unless you provide the chemical make up for the binder.  Wax melters?  No.  Already a fire hazard.
Wall plug ins?  Yes, we have put this in binder
Diffusers? No.
I am so sorry.  I too love my smell goods. I will let you know if this ever changes. Thank you for being in compliance.

Summer Planning
FACTS
Camp IWannaGo & Co-Op in da house

FACTs
Camp IWannaGo will be housed at Marshall this summer.  I am genuinely grateful that I was able to meet with Frank Garcia and Kyle Christian to discuss our concerns both past and future.  They are working hard to hire quality instructors who will be trained to hold students to high behavioral standards.  They have a system in place to assure any room used is properly restored to "better than it was left" condition.  Additionally, we worked together to be sure camp schedule was adjusted to allow ample time for cleaning and reorganizing of rooms prior to 2024/25 return date.  It can be better.  It must be better.  I appreciate your cooperation as we do not own our space, but we are stewards of it.  Additionally, we will have Co-Op in our building this summer!  We were able to make this work before, we will make it work again.  FACTS will enter through the sped bus lane and their office will be in XCAT.  Rooms in 1/2 hall, cafegymatoriam and a few rooms in 3-5 will also be used.  FACTS will NOT use our Kinder/Special Area hall where Co-Op resides.  Have questions or concerns?  Bring them to me now so we can get ahead of them.  Thank you.
  • Set Up and Preparation 5/29-5/31, possibly a few hours of training during these days.

  • Camp starting 6/3

  • Ending 7/19- to give time for custodial cleaning

  • Instructional start: 8/4.

Snow Days: (From Superintendent Penca's Board Report)

The Flagstaff Unified School District has canceled school a total of four (4) days, so far, during this winter season.

FUSD will first utilize the make-up days designated on its calendar, Monday, April 22 and Friday, May 10, to account for the two (2) school days canceled due to winter weather on February 2 and February 7. Students will not be required to make-up the two canceled school days on February 8 and February 9 as the district utilizes its surplus instructional time above the state requirements that is built into the daily school schedules.

In accordance with Policy 4-102.C Staff Alternate Work Assignments, FUSD’s 9-month certified and classified staff have the opportunity to work remotely or take leave on days canceled beyond the designated make-up days.
