Mark Culbertson - Principal of PdH Survey

My name is Mark Culbertson, and I am a doctoral student at Grand Canyon University. For my dissertation I am researching to see if or to what extent there is a relationship between factors
of school culture and teacher work engagement for elementary (K-8) school teachers in public school districts in Arizona. My study consists of two surveys, as well as an optional demographics survey.

I would appreciate your help in my research.  I know your time is valuable, especially at this time of the year.  If you participate, it should only take you about 10 minutes to complete the surveys.  Your input is valuable for my research and I appreciate you taking the time, if you choose to do so.  Below is the link to Informed Consent Form, which gives you all of the information regarding the study and safeguards for privacy.  If you choose to participate, please click ‘I Agree’ and you will be taken to the surveys.  If, after reading the Informed Consent Form, you choose not to participate, please click ‘I Do Not Agree’ and you will be taken to the end.

End of the year Professional Expectations, Reflections & Ideas for 2022/23!
During May, I am requesting 1:1, 20 min appointments with each teacher.  I am so excited to make the time to reflect on professional accomplishments of 2021/22, discuss professional ambitions for 2022/23, review new Frontline sign off process, collect TPPP hours, submit 2nd eval waiver (where applicable), provide you with the final walk-through checkout sheet to be submitted during walk-through before leaving on Friday, May 27th, and listen to your innovative ideas to elevate our school. Please bring your computer. I do not need your lesson plans. Please see the first draft of this schedule (below).  Please note: YOU ALL HAVE EDITING RIGHTS SO BE CAREFUL!  If there is a conflict, please note on the sheet so I can rearrange the schedule.  Please also know that I am starting this early due to the unpredictable demands of each day.  It is possible the schedule will be disrupted with disruptive behaviors.  Thank you in advance for your flexibility!

School supply list for 2022/23
It is once again our  ambitious goal  to make sure you have EVERYTHING you need to run your classroom next year without having to ask parents for supplies or without having to spend your own money!  It is time to meet with your grade level team to think about your needs.  Next week's blog will include the Supply List for your grade level team to fill out.

Thank you all for putting the TEAM in AASA TEAMwork!

Marshall is CONTINUING to INVEST in our teachers! At the beginning of the year, I secured funds for teachers to choose their passion or need for professional growth through Coconino County Education Service Agency Innovation & Division (CCESA). These funds went fast on a first come basis. The bad news...there will be no funds for professional development next year (we took a huge hit in Title I yet again). The good news...I have redirected more funds to CCESA to continue with what you started! With our focus on the Science of Reading, we have 9 teachers currently completing LETRS Vol 1. This is your chance to join them. Remaining funds will go towards those wanting to continue their commitment with LETRS Vol 2. Please take a look at CCESA Programs and Services and notify me if you wish to take advantage of this opportunity. Their calendar is up to date. All funds must be encumbered by mid May. This means you must commit to a training and I will sign you up.

Be Aware:

At first glance, it looks like a single serving bag of Nerds Rope that your child might eat as a treat. But take a closer look. See the word "medicated" and the small white box at the bottom that says 600 milligrams of THC?

Those three letters stand for tetrahydrocannabinol, the part of the marijuana plant that makes people high.

Eating even a small fraction of that bag would "overwhelm a child,"

Thank you for continuing to keep your eyes open.

The week we rock the AASA!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!

Can you believe that we have 28 days left for the 2021-2022 school year? That is all we have to set our students up for success for their next level!  A strong finish helps build for a successful year to come! To ensure a strong finish and a positive launch to the next school year, please keep the following in mind:

*Continue to have high expectations for all. The end of the school year is not only about celebrations. It’s about learning. Focus on what is important and find the balance between keeping learning at the forefront of your classroom and enjoying those “end of the year” celebrations.

*Continue to be well planned. Act with intention and purpose each day. Students thrive on routine and consistency. Just because the weather is getting warmer and field trips are blooming, the last thing we want to do is lose focus. It’s important to ensure that the learning process continues to bloom and that students are engaged!

*Continue to keep a positive, helpful, and hopeful attitude. This time of the year can be emotional and exhausting for all. Remember to find the good stuff. It’s there when you take time to look for it. TOGETHER, MUSTANGS RISE!

We will ROCK THE AASA!!!

Speaking of rockin'... did you know?
