End of the year Professional Expectations, Reflections & Ideas for 2022/23!
I have genuinely VALUED my 1:1 time with each teacher these past few weeks. I am thrilled with all we were able to accomplish amidst so many legitimate barriers to success.  We did really hard things this year! Don't forget:
~Turn in TPPP hours TPPP Log
~ Submit 2nd eval waiver (where applicable) 2nd Observation Waiver
~ Conduct your 2021/22 Final walk-through using this checkout sheet submitted before leaving on Friday, May 27th.

Fly Eagles Fly!
FHS 2022 Graduates will walk the halls of Marshall Elementary on Thursday, May 26th at 11am!  That is right!  About 30 graduates will grace the halls of their former elementary school.  I am unclear if they are ALL former Mustangs or not.  What a powerful visual for our students to see their future!  I have been trying to plan this for 4 years!  We will gather all students in the hall outside your classroom to cheer them on as they walk through.  I make the announcement when they are here (18 yr olds tend to be off schedule). They will cross our field, enter through the inside doors by XCAT and walk up 1/2 hall toward the gym.  They will walk through the cafeteria since some will be eating and proceed down the 3-5 hall and out.  We can then head outside and continue to cheer them on if you wish.  I am excited about this powerful visual.  I am excited to start a new tradition!
FACTs Reminder

FACTs
Camp I Wanna Go will begin 6/7.  They will move in on 6/6 (at the latest - hopefully, we can give them more time than that).  FACTs will enter and exit from our SpEd bus lane.  FACTs office and nurse will be set up in Rm 15 (XCAT K-2).  They will only use the back of Rm 14 (XCAT 3-5).
The following classrooms will be used for FACTs summer program:
Rm 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17 (Sci. Lab), 18, 19, 20 and library.  We really condensed their spacing in the building and the lower covid-19 numbers mean they will use less space.
They are trying to schedule walk-throughs with our teachers on May 27th. They will take photos of all belongings once you have secured them.  If you need to store your belongings in another room that is not being used, we can make that happen.  Once again, this is supposedly the last year they will use Marshall as the program will move across the street (can't this year since Killip is still in there) in the future. Fingers crossed.   If you have questions, see me or Erin.

May- Mental Health Awareness Month!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

When we think of taking care of our health, we often first consider our physical health—things like blood pressure, cholesterol, and fitness routines. But it’s just as important to consider your mental health. Today, we’re sharing five ways to take care of your mental well-being—and prevent issues that can affect your overall health.

1. Connect with loved ones. Building relationships with other people improves your self-worth and gives you a sense of community. Emotional support is important to feeling less alone.

2. Get regular exercise. Physical fitness not only raises self-esteem, it helps your mood—which can be incredibly helpful during times of stress. Find an activity you enjoy, whether it’s walking, swimming, cycling, or strength training, and aim for 30 minutes a day three to five days a week.

3. Practice mindfulness. Contrary to popular belief, mindfulness is not “clearing your mind” of all thoughts. Instead, it’s simply paying attention to the present moment—your emotions, your thoughts, how you feel in your body. Mindfulness can reduce stress and help you take on challenges. Click here to learn more.

4. Eat a balanced diet. Eating brain-healthy foods like fatty fish and nuts alongside a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can boost mental health. Avoid drinking excessively or smoking tobacco, as alcohol is a depressant and smoking can increase tension or even mask mental health concerns.

5. Create a calming routine. Does soft music calm you? Is there a particular smell that helps ease your anxiety? Perhaps a morning walk in the sun helps you feel ready for the day. Finding healthy ways to appeal to your senses can help you cope with the stress of day-to-day life.
If you are struggling with your mental health, your Vera care team is here to help. To make an appointment with a Vera provider or health coach, click here or call (928) 774-3985.
