End Quarter Two: The season of gratitude

What are families saying about Marshall?

What I am grateful for is how the teachers and staff know me by name, greet me with enthusiasm, their acknowledgement of me has helped me come out of my shell more to truely express who I am, and their presence has made a postive change in my life. I am thankful for their dedication to not only to me but my fellow classmates. I may not be able to share verbally my thoughts and emotions but my father has seen the change in me and it makes him proud to have a Mustang child. My dad is thankful also for the teachers and staff even though they don't know what struggles we had to endure in the past but he knows every single one of them has helped me be the person my dad knew I am and he couldn't ask for a better school full of wonderful humans to entrust his child's education and growth with. ~ Aliana Agee (CrossCat)

I’m grateful my son was able to go to my elementary school before moving. I’m grateful for Marshall’s hardworking, kind and visionary principal, educators and staff. I’m grateful for Marshall’s place in and commitment to the Flagstaff community. Thank you for all you do for our children. ~ Emilia Anderson

We are grateful for a safe, loving environment with passionate and caring staff and teachers. We love the STEAM approach to education at Marshall that develops the whole child and provides a well rounded education. We are grateful for the free meals provided to all students thank you!!! ~Anonymous

Thank you, Tr. Jude, for all your help, not only as our librarian and our Marshall tech expert, but for your willingness to jump in a help students and staff, lead RTI groups, and for all your care for students who need an encouraging word, a break, a moment to reset, and just about anything else. Thanks for all you do for our Marshall Mustangs! You are important and we see you! ~Anonymous

I am grateful for Marshall's positive environment! It really makes a difference and makes you want to come to work. :) I am continually impressed by how everyone steps up and shows support for one another. I feel genuine care from others every day at Marshall! ~ Anonymous

Subject: Join the Conversation: Re-imagining Marshall Elementary School

Dear FUSD Families, Staff, Students, and Community Members,
Your voice matters!
The Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) is excited to invite you to a series of facilitated discussions to help shape the future of the current Marshall Elementary School and site. With the new Marshall Elementary set to open in Fall 2025, now is the perfect time to re-imagine how this space can serve the evolving needs of our district and community.
Discussion Dates and Details:
Wednesday, December 4, 2024 | 6:30 - 8 p.m. | Flagstaff High School Commons
Wednesday, January 22, 2025 | 6:30 - 8 p.m. | Flagstaff High School Commons
These sessions are open to all staff, parents, students, and community members. We encourage you to join us in this collaborative process as we work together to envision the possibilities for this important site.
Let’s create a space that addresses the district’s needs and reflects the shared values and aspirations of our community.
We look forward to seeing you there!

New School FF&E
 - Finalizing furniture! Be in the know!  We are in the final approval process for ALL Furniture in the new school.  Please take a look at your area and if you have any questions you must talk with your teacher champion or Mrs. Christina (who has been at EVERY meeting with me)!!!!!  THANK YOU, it is a lot! Any change requests must be made by Tuesday, Nov. 26!

What is CommunityShare?

FUSD has joined the CommunityShare network which connects inspiring parents and community members with educators so we can provide more real-world learning opportunities in our district’s classrooms. CommunityShare allows individuals to become a mentor, guest speaker, real-world project collaborator, internship host, and more for PK-12 students in our district. It's like a giant human library, matching their background, skills, and interests with the needs of students and educators. Informational flyer are attached and her is a link to a short video.

We hosted an informational webinar for teachers on October 2 - recording is HERE. Educators can create their profile and post a project at CommunityShare - FUSDThrough generous donations from district partners, the FUSD Foundation is offering a $200 honorarium to the first 25 FUSD teachers who post a project on CommunityShare. We already have projects posted on the network related to mapping uranium mines, coding, interviews with WWII veterans, and sustainability.
