Do you remember....the 21st day of September?

September Happenings...

September whispers, soft and bright,
Leaves turn gold in morning light.
Change is painted, bold and true,
A season fresh for me and you.

In every student, new sparks ignite,
Ideas take wing, hearts feel light.
Together we guide, we grow, we see.
September’s change brings possibility.
Enjoy all this month will bring, Mustangs!

Prioritizing Your Well-Being: Free Counseling for School Staff

At CCESA, we know the challenges of working in education—and we’re here to support you.

That’s why we’re offering 8 free counseling sessions to all school staff in Coconino County. These sessions are designed to help you work through:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Life transitions
  • Stress management

Flexible Options:
✅ Sessions can be held at your school site, at our CCESA office, or virtually—whatever works best for you.
✅ After the 8 free sessions, we’ll help connect you with a long-term therapist if needed.

This program is designed to remove barriers to mental health care, so you can focus on being your best self—both inside and outside the classroom. 💙

How to Get Started:
Reach out to Shannon Wills at swills@coconino.az.gov for more information or to schedule your first session.

Together, we can support the educators who support our students every day.

The FUSD Digital Citizenship Curriculum was revised and updated in the 2022 school year to include Nearpod lessons that are ready to teach. These lessons are located in the curriculum document on the FUSD website under Digital Citizenship & Internet Safety Education. It is also linked below, as well as in the District Library in Nearpod.

In the district provided curriculum you will find the two required lessons at each grade level, an additional 2-3 recommended lessons, and an online verification form to be completed by each staff member that teaches the curriculum to students.

All required lessons should be taught, and the verification form should be completed by the staff member that delivered the lesson no later than Feb. 6, 2026. *
What are EdTech Treks?
They’re bite-sized, in-class professional learning opportunities—where an LTI team member joins your classroom to lead a lesson that brings iPad apps to life, supporting both student learning and your tech integration goals.
We're kicking things off with a focus on Digital Citizenship & the Sketches app!
Sign up here for a 45-minute classroom session where Cris Bowen will guide your students through a quick, thoughtful digital citizenship mini-lesson. Then, students will use the Sketches app to create a visual representation of what it means to be a good digital citizen.
Students can choose to submit their artwork to the FUSD Digital Citizenship Sticker Contest. Winners will be selected in October, and the winning designs will be professionally printed and shared across all schools!
NAU pre-service Digital Citizenship Lessons
Hi Principals-

I hope you're having a great start to the year.

I'm working with Ashley Esparza at NAU to have her education pre-service teachers come to schools and do a 45min Digital Citizenship lesson for elementary students the week of Sept 22.

We're trying to keep all pre-service students to one school per day, so if you think your school might be interested in hosting future teachers for a fun and engaging lesson, please let me know and we can start working on scheduling.  Thanks and looking forward to another fun year working with you all!

Flagstaff Festival of Science

The 36th annual Flagstaff Festival of Science is just around the corner: September 19–28, 2025! FFS is a FREE 10-day event promoting awareness and enthusiasm for science in northern Arizona!

In your mailboxes, you will find a bundle of FFS Passports with information about selected events. Importantly, they also have a QR code that links to the Flagstaff Festival of Science App, which has the full schedule of events.

Please keep the passports in your classrooms for students who want to have a hard copy, and please share the QR code with your students so they can explore the FFS app. Though we do not have enough passports for every student to take home, we expect that most people will prefer to use the app to get information about the schedule of events. However, we want the hard copy to be accessible to students and families who cannot access the schedule online or on a device.

If you want more hard copy Passports for your classroom, there is a small stack of extras in the mailroom, along with black & white copies. If more are needed, you can let Keely know or email info@scifest.org , and they will deliver more to the school.

Thank you for helping spread the word about the Flagstaff Festival of Science!
