I actually shed a tear of this one! I am pleased to inform you that Marshall Magnet Elementary School will be implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a program available to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Programs.
What does this mean for you and your students attending Marshall Magnet Elementary School?
Great news! All enrolled students at Marshall Magnet Elementary School are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no cost to your household each day of the school year. Your students will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application.
However, if students have a negative balance from previous years, families are responsible for paying that balance. We have over $17,000.00 to collect. I am so excited about this opportunity. We will discuss what this will look like at Marshall when we gather all together!
Supplies
Erin worked tirelessly to order and sort all of the requested supplies between your grade level lists and that last minute art consumable grant. It was SO MUCH WORK on Erin ALL summer! Please take a moment to thank her!
Please do not just go to the cafegymatorium to pick up your supplies. Erin will schedule a time with your grade level to pick up your requested supplies to avoid any confusion. She is hopeful to schedule you on Thursday, August 1.
Please tell parents that we were able to acquire all supplies with the generous support of our Marshall Community Support Organiztion. We spent $40/student to have ALL YOU REQUESTED. We will be asking families for a $40 donation to try to offset this cost to maintain this service to our teachers, students and families. If they ask, check to be written to Marshall CSO. Cash also accepted at front office. A QR code will be provided to you upon your return!
U.S. Flag Display
- A United States flag shall be displayed in each classroom and on or near the outside of the school building during school hours. Classrooms are defined as any room students may occupy when the Pledge of Allegiance is recited at the beginning of the school day. It is recommended that U.S. flags also be displayed in common areas (gym, library, auditorium, etc.)
- The flags must be manufactured in the United States, be at least 2x3 feet, and use appropriate hardware.
- Other flags should be approximately equal size or smaller than the U.S. flag.
- No other flag or pennant should be placed above, or if on the same level, to the right of the U.S. Flag (the flag's own right). When flying two flags on the same staff, the U.S. flag should always be on top.
- A specific time is set aside each day for students who wish to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
- For grades 7-12, a legible copy of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights shall be placed adjacent to (next to) each classroom flag.
- A period of silence shall be observed at the beginning of each day that lasts for at least one minute, but not more than two minutes. Teachers are required to encourage parents to speak with their children about how to use this time, but teachers may not make their own suggestions for how students use the period of silence. To comply with the law, teachers may use the language below to instruct students and parents on the moment of silence at the beginning of each school year.
- Each student in grades 4-6 shall recite the following passage from the Declaration of Independence at the commencement of the first class of the school day:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
