Tax Credit Donations

Staff, I’d like to kindly ask you (and your friends and your family and any AZ tax payer you know) to please consider making a contribution to Marshall Magnet Elementary School this tax season. The process is simple: you donate the amount of your choice and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on your taxes. For example, if you donate $100 now and owe $100 in taxes by April, your payment will be reduced by that $100. If you donate $100 and are expecting a refund, your refund will increase by $100. A person filing their tax return individually may contribute up to $200 annually. Married couples filing jointly may contribute up to $400 annually, but every dollar helps us provide bussing, field trips, and extracurricular activities for our amazing students!

Give you Money to the State or give it to our school...either way, you pay!

Project Momentum Update:
A recent decision was made by the Learning, Technology, and Innovation (LTI) Committee regarding substitute requests for collaboration time using Project Momentum funding. These updated guidelines are designed to help us use resources effectively while ensuring minimal disruption to student learning across our schools.
Subs for Project Momentum Collaboration Opportunities:
Substitutes funded through Project Momentum will be approved for teacher collaboration during the school day. However, please note that requests for substitutes related to travel or conferences during instructional time and/or during the school year will not be approved.
Restrictions on Timing
Sub requests will not be granted for Fridays or designated blackout days.
Requirements
When requesting substitutes for collaboration time, please include the following details in your proposed plan:
  • Specific Plan Details: Clearly outline the purpose, specific dates, and the number of substitutes needed.
  • Back-Up Plan: Provide a contingency date in case there’s a district-wide substitute shortage (e.g., if coverage drops below 65%).
  • Submission Timeline: Requests must be submitted at least four weeks in advance.
  • Comprehensive Sub Plans: Teachers need to provide detailed substitute plans to ensure instructional time is well-utilized.
Thank you for following these guidelines and for continuing to support meaningful collaboration and professional growth for your teams. If you have any questions or need any assistance with this process, don’t hesitate to reach out to Janelle Reasor, Alianah Ramirez or Chelsea Drey.

Consider Completing a Community Share: CommunityShare - FUSD.

Concerns and Changes to Laws Etc.

Marshall's front office and leadership team has been briefed on how to handle situations with immigration if it was ever to occur at one of our school sites. We have specific guidelines to follow. We were asked to not distribute. I would be happy to talk with anyone that wants to know more. Once I have information on any topic that could affect our students and families I will make sure to share it. Once a change occurs, the FUSD legal team is on top of it, and Mr. Penca communicates that to principals.

Legal Counsel re Immigration for Families

If we have any families needing free legal counsel re immigration status, etc. The organization is called Northern Arizona Immigration Legal Services (NAILS) and they offer Spanish and online services too.

Thank you, Mrs. C., for all you do for each student every day in every way! You truly are THE BEST school counselor. There is NO ONE like you! Marshall staff and students win with the undeniable support you offer for all.
Happy School Counselor Appreciation Week!

Welcome to our new Site Sub, Ms. K!

Dana Kamberg is an educator and painter based in Flagstaff, Arizona, with a strong commitment to fostering creativity in students. In 2022, she completed her Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Art at Goddard College, where she explored intergenerational trauma through self-portraiture, visual symbolism, and storytelling techniques.
Kamberg has two years of experience as an instructional assistant in Flagstaff High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Graphic Design program, where she supported students in developing their artistic skills and understanding of design principles. Since 2023, she has served as a long-term substitute teacher, working with students from 3rd to 6th grade, further enhancing her teaching experience and dedication to education.
In addition to her teaching roles, Kamberg has continued her work in self-portraiture and has taught adjunct courses at Northern Arizona University and Pima College, contributing to the academic community while inspiring her students to explore their artistic potential.
We are so fortunate to have her join our Marshall team!  We really think she is the PERFECT fit for Mrs. Ayala's class during her maternity leave.  Thank you, Ms. K., for choosing Marshall!!

Congratulations, Mr. Whipps!
Mr. Whipps has been hired by the Maintenance Dept. to be Marshall's FUSD Day Porter! This brings him up to 40 hrs/week doing so much more than before. He will still continue to push into some classes, safely get people across the street, and assist in the lunchroom. We are very lucky to write our own list of duties in partnership with Team FUSD!
