Momentous March!

Team Marshall,

March is momentous!  A month full of opportunity, impact, and momentum. First, let’s make every family conference count by honoring the partnership we have with our families.  We will celebrate growth while setting purposeful next steps for every student!  Then, as we head into spring break, I encourage you to truly rest and refill your cup. You deserve it. May you make memories with those you love! When we return, it’s 4th quarter game time!  We will do everything we can to crush the state tests, embrace our one-of-a-kind excursions, show off our art and music skills all over the state, cheer on Odyssey of the Mind at state competition, and intentionally prepare our students for their next levels. Early in the quarter, we’ll also be finalizing our plans for next year as we build forward momentum with the same care and vision that defines us. We will continue to rise because we work together and there is nothing more powerful than that.

Momentous March can also be Mindful!

Updates to FUSD Volunteer Applications

FUSD has greatly simplified the process of becoming a volunteer - which is great news for our families and potential field trip chaperones! More info can be found at www.fusd1.org/volunteer but here are the general updates:

  • Paper volunteer packets with reference checks, notarization, and traveling to the district office are no longer required! Now, the entire process can be completed online/asynchronously.

  • The process now only requires 3 steps:

  • The FUSD HR team will monitor applicants’ completion of each step - volunteers become approved by HR only after completion of each step (The BIB screening can still take several days to process)

  • The Application Form must be renewed annually. BIB Screening must be
    renewed every 2 years.

As you prepare for any field trips in the remaining months of school, please remember this process is required for individuals to be allowed to chaperone. This ensures the safety and security of all students, staff, and families. Please reach out to the front office staff with any questions.

Gradebook & Report Card Timeline

  • Week of February 23rd - Specials teachers will prepare grades, and should be completed no later than Tuesday, March 3rd.

  • Tuesday, March 3rd - Quarter 3 ends; attendance should be rolled over at 11:00AM

  • Wednesday, March 4th - Friday, March 6th - Standards reports will be available to families during conferences.

  • Friday, March 20th - Grade book will close. Please ensure that all standards reports are "Marked Complete" by then.

  • As a reminder, the entire report card must be completed for academics and behavior. Comments are not required for this round, as we are holding conferences, but they are required for quarter 4.

  • Work with ESS, ELL, Counselor, and Speech to coordinate any service providers who you are hoping will attend one of your conferences.

HERE is the AZ Sci & AASA testing schedule.
Please check the schedule carefully as almost every grade has a change.
Lunch schedule is different on April 15 and 16 for everyone. Thank you, Mrs. Hulls for your hard work and collaboration on this schedule.  We are ready to set our students up for success!

Fire Marshall:

We are supposed to get a visit sometime in the first two weeks of March. To assist with preparation, please review the following fire safety items that will be observed:

  • Evacuation Plans: Clearly posted and up to date

  • Clear Exits: Hallways, stairwells, and doorways must remain free of clutter

  • Electrical Safety: Regular inspections of wiring, outlets, and cords; appliances unplugged when not in use

  • Flammable Storage: Chemicals stored in approved cabinets; oily rags stored in covered metal containers

  • Heating and Ignition Sources: Required clearances maintained around heaters and stoves

  • Shops (Wood/Auto): Dust collection maintained; flammable liquids and rags properly stored; wiring in safe condition

  • Fire Doors: Kept closed at all times, except during evacuation

  • Fire Drills: Records maintained, with a hard copy available in the front office

  • Wall Displays: Paper and artwork kept to a minimum due to fire risk

  • Extension Cords: Used temporarily only and not as permanent wiring

  • Restricted Areas: No storage permitted in mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, or air handling unit areas

  • Science Laboratories: Proper chemical storage and required safety equipment in place

Thank you for your attention to these items and for helping ensure compliance with fire safety requirements.

Woot Woot Wagon for staff and small refreshments for families will be provided thanks to the MCSO!

This survey is for the families we serve and was sent to all from Mr. Penca on Thursday,
Feb. 26.  PLEASE communicate this with your families in all of your news letters, blogs, emails, etc.  WE NEED TO HEAR FROM THEM!  We need your help to get this in front of them.  Conferences are also a great time for that!  Additionally, we need to continue to push our tax credit opportunity to our families.  Please consider sharing the how and why with them!  The survey will close Friday, March 20.
Please promote family participation in the survey in your school communications.  Here is the survey link:  https://forms.gle/MtqgdqD5YN6Kyt889
