Hindsight is 20/20: This expression means: "It's easier to analyze and evaluate situations when we're looking back on them in the past, than when we're in the present moment."
It feels like we have all been stuck in the moments of 2020. Still, I know so many of us want to "put it behind us". Easier said than done. Do you take the time to reflect on all you accomplished in a year and then create your New Year's Resolutions (personal or professional) for the next? If so, I would love to hear about them and share out in our final 2020 Mustang Memo. Please share with us HERE.

Restorative Practices
- Justice honors the inherent worth of all. It is enacted through relationships. Primary justice, sometimes called social justice, is the condition of respect, dignity, and the protection of rights and opportunities for all, existing in relationships where no one is wronged. Secondary justice, or judicial justice is understood mainly as a response to harm or crime.
- Restorative, as an adjective for both primary and secondary justice, describes how an individual's or group's dignity, worth and interconnectedness will be nurtured, protected, or reestablished in ways that will allow people to be fully contributing members of their communities.
- Education comes from the Latin words educare, meaning "to lead out, to draw out." Therefore, it includes learning in all contexts, formal and informal, and seeks to empower learners of all ages to live out their capacity for being human and relational.

Managing Breakout Rooms in Zoom
Please click the link above for some tips and tricks. After much conversation, we have finally been given permission to explore the use of breakout rooms for students without constant supervision. Expectations and explanations must be made clear to both students and parents as the stories of breakout rooms gone wrong at the elementary level are numerous. It is so important that we first create a document with clear expectations on break out zoom room behaviors. I hope we can get this accomplished sooner than later so we can begin breakout rooms for those teachers who have been requesting permission. Want to help me? Please let me know.
Safety Updates
Health Data for the Week of - https://www.fusd1.org/Page/18464 We were in the substantial range for the number of cases per 100,000 (247.1) and percent positivity ( 7.0%). Please stay safe, team. Our numbers are rising and the best place for us to work may very well be home. I believe that we will be receiving more information from the district on work expectations shortly.

Fire Marshal:
The fire marshal is making the school rounds at FUSD schools on Wednesdays. Please ensure that your work space is ready for this inspection. Areas that are often missed include:
- There can be nothing hanging from the ceiling and there needs to be atl east 18" from the ceiling to boxes/materials on shelves
- Classroom emergency exits must be clear
- "Daisy Chaining" of extension cords is not permitted
- Please make sure there is no paper on your doors or open light bulbs in your classroom.
Thank you to all those who have already provided for Ms. Fisher and her family! It is the kind of support they will never forget. Marshall is family!
