Enjoy your well-deserved winter break!  Please take care of yourselves, your friends, and your families!

Refresh

Taking some time off gives you a chance to refresh and unload some of the burden you've been carrying on your shoulders. Stepping away for a period can help you clear your mind and come back more focused and ready to take on any challenges that still lie ahead. The stress can be overwhelming, so refreshing is vital to your physical health, as well as your ability to effectively push students to their next level in 2023!  Together, we rise!

Decem-burr

Support comes in many forms! I love how we support each other! Thank you for the wonderful, creative, and delicious luncheon 4th grade team (Mears, Valenzuela, Foubert), Mr. Martinez, Tr. Jude, and Mrs. Burgoon!

Choir is crushing it!  Thank you, Mrs. Stamer!

Did you know...Mrs. Stamer and Tr. Jude play in the Flagstaff Community Band?  They are performing Sat. at FHS at 3:00pm and admission is two canned goods for Flagstaff Family Food Center.  Also, the Community Band will be performing Sunday evening during the luminaria. Go see them!

You all rock!!

ELL FACTS!  Did you know?

  1. The HLS is located in the CUM folder in the office. It is the Home Language Survey (HLS), no longer called a PHLOTE.
  2. All students who indicate English is a second language take a proficiency exam and if they do not pass, they are automatically placed in ELL services.
  3. There are models approved by the state of AZ when it comes to servicing our ELL Students.  We pull students 60 minutes a day and 30 minutes are during the RTI time.
  4. Staff are not permitted to tell the students' parents to withdraw them from ELL services. The withdraw process needs to be initiated by guardians/parents.
  5. The AZELLA test will be given at the end of February-March. This year the students will be given a new exam. They will be prepared!
  6.  ELL Standards must be noted in your lesson plans. ADE monitors annually via audits.
  7. Your ELL Specialists plan to take some time during CTs to make sure you have the appropriate standards in your plans.  They are here to help!

Indoor recess survey for cold and/or wet mornings
Classroom teachers, please choose how you would prefer the 8:20-8:35AM recess being held in the event that temperatures are too cold for students to go outside. Option 1 would keep it so that students walk to your class. Option 2 would make it so that students will gather in the cafeteria until the bell rings. Please note that with Option 2 whoever is on morning outside duty for that day will need to be in the cafeteria on duty. Results will be tallied on Friday 12/16 and shared before returning to school on January 2nd so that everyone is on the same page. For now, indoor recess is in your classroom in the morning. Thank you.
