Now in its third year, our annual Adopt-A-Teacher program has given back more than $75,000 to Arizona teachers. We’re adopting 14 Arizona teachers this year — seven from February to June and another seven from July to November. Each selected teacher provides a wish list of classroom supplies and essentials valued up to $5,000 in total. We fulfill each of their wish lists as our way of showing appreciation for their efforts in the classroom and beyond.

DreamBox
Marshall is not faring well with Dreambox in comparison to FUSD. Please review this brief slideshow of FUSD's Mid Year Impact Review. I am using the Dreambox dashboard to see student lesson completion by teacher. Please take a look at your student reports. I can help. The great news...we are improving and can be track for our students to complete 5 lessons a week during January. Let's keep moving forward and not spend too much time looking back!
From Andrea Shaw:
Covid Emails: This was a big topic. Many are wondering why parent get the email that name specific teachers while staff only get an email that says grade level. Basically this was to kind of inform parents that there was an exposure in their child's room and figuring teachers would basically figure it out by absences, all the while trying to keep some privacy intact. There was discussion about how this left teachers out of the know while being caught off guard when parents contacted us asking about the exposures in our classes they are being notified about and we are not. There was also discussion about how staff feel like we are not receiving information we need to keep ourselves and others safe, and that we know how to receive information and keep it confidential and not share out specifics. While we were in the middle of this discussion and email was received from a principal asking to discuss this topic at Monday's Principal Meeting, so it looks like this will be reviewed and hopefully parents and teachers will all be getting the same email soon.
Covid Testing on Thursday's: I asked about this personally, and am willing to share this with all. I was curious about why we were trying to be tested on Thursday/Friday's, UPS was picking up on Friday's and we were supposed to get results back by Sunday at the latest to help inform us before the next work week, and the first round of testing resulted in most not hearing back until Wednesday. They said the company simply get overwhelmed with the amount of tests they had to do, going from 8,000 the week before to 18,000 the first week we all tested. Hopefully this changes.
Covid Leave: There is still discussions around expanding the Covid leave banks that were in place previously. If this happens it would be retroactive for this school year. We will let you know when there is word this has been approved and goes into effect.
Custodial Services: SSC's contract is up and it is time for the to renew with the district. This means that whenever an outside companies contract is up the must put in a bid, along with other companies. Remember, fully staffed they should be running at 95 people and are currently running at 60-65 custodians at all times. Reminds me of a quote that says, "The whole word is short staffed, be kind to those that were able to show up." They tables are cleaned Monday-Thursday, we wipe them on Friday's. Encourage kiddos to help pick up trash in halls and outside.
W-2's: Information coming this week. They are being processed. You will be able to request paper or electronic. If you ask for electronic you will not receive a paper copy at all.
Wellness Representative: FUSD is looking for a wellness representative to serve on the wellness committee from each sight, they can be certified or classified. They will meet about once every other month. If your are interested please reach out to Steve Rhode or Dawn Anderson.
