STEM City Community Event is back!
This year’s event is scheduled on:
April 30, 2022
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Fort Tuthill
Marshall is invited to participate in the 9th Annual Community STEM Celebration! STEM City and its partners have worked to create this unique opportunity for all of Flagstaff to engage with the STEM community including K-12 schools, college and university educational institutions, businesses, government agencies, non-profits, and others.
Hands-on activities, demonstrations, and conversations will excite all participants and expose the community to STEM educational and career opportunities in Flagstaff. This event is a time to celebrate Flagstaff's designation as "America's First STEM Community."
Please email me if you have a STEM project to display, interact with at this event. Marshall has always had a strong presence.

Congratulations to the following teachers for receiving the ADE grants up to $1K!!
Mrs. Ogg
I am so excited that I will receive tons of math manipulatives and games to help build my math centers. I am getting Geo-boards, Addition Games, and so much more! I also have some super awesome Science and Reading centers coming as well. Can't wait.
Additionally, Mrs. Ogg received a grant for Turkey eggs to raise baby chicks in the classroom as her students learn about Life Cycles. Mrs. Janeway's father will raise them thereafter.
Ms. Valenzuela
Math manipulatives, a rug and flexible seating!
Mrs. Krause
Big Life journals for SEL for every students and two more ball seats!
Ms. Fisher
I applied for some movie making supplies to help enhance the culminating social studies plays and movies I like to create with my students. Some of the items I requested were portable microphones, LED light boxes, tripods, a stand-alone green screen, and large paper for scenery. I can't wait to get back to it after a 2+ year COVID hiatus!
Mrs. Ayala
I have differentiated math groups in my class and much of the grant went to support materials for hands on learning opportunities in math. It can be difficult to expect 2/3 of my class to stay on task while I am working with a small group, but if they are playing games and using fun manipulatives they stay engaged the entire time. I also got a rug for my reading corner for optimized cozy flexible seating. I got two white boards that will also be used for flexible seating (one on wheels one mini one on a stand) and small groups.

Mrs. Burgoon
Our Marshall PE program (and all elementary schools in FUSD thanks to Mrs. Burgoon) have been awarded a grant funded by the Catena foundation. We are so fortunate for this experience! This program will benefit our Kindergarten, First and 2nd grade students. It will teach them how to ride a bike! We will start them on balance bikes and we will add the pedals and raise the seats as they are ready. Riding a bike is a skill that many of our kids are not getting at home. Our goal is to get them comfortable on bikes in grades K-2 and encourage them to join our Flyrs program after school or during Magnet Monday in grades 3-5. I have attended the training and am working on getting the racks built to hold the bikes. Bikes should be arriving this week. They can only be used in PE class. I can't wait to get our Mustangs on bikes!
Anti-Bullying for Parents - Please share with them
This presentation addresses the different types of bullying, how it’s affecting our youth, and preventative measures parents can take. Presenters will explain why teaching kindness and being empathetic is important and the relationship it has with bullying. Parents and guardians will also receive tips on how to help their child become resilient to criticism.

Collaboration Hours
We have enough money to begin with up to 6 hours of collaboration time for our teachers to be paid just over $29/hr off of contract time to work on UDL lesson development. Keep your focus narrow. Tackle one part of the UDL design process at a time. Please fill out THIS sheet and don't forget to fill out a time sheet. Teacher Collaboration Hours <-----Please fill this out!
