Teacher appreciation week and end of the year happenings!

I hope you enjoy everything about the exciting Appreciation week ahead.  Marshall teachers are supported like no other by our amazing Marshall CSO and community! You are valued!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

When we think of taking care of our health, we often first consider our physical health—things like blood pressure, cholesterol, and fitness routines. But it’s just as important to consider your mental health. Today, we’re sharing five ways to take care of your mental well-being—and prevent issues that can affect your overall health.

1. Connect with loved ones. Building relationships with other people improves your self-worth and gives you a sense of community. Emotional support is important to feeling less alone.

2. Get regular exercise. Physical fitness not only raises self-esteem, it helps your mood—which can be incredibly helpful during times of stress. Find an activity you enjoy, whether it’s walking, swimming, cycling, or strength training, and aim for 30 minutes a day three to five days a week.

3. Practice mindfulness. Contrary to popular belief, mindfulness is not “clearing your mind” of all thoughts. Instead, it’s simply paying attention to the present moment—your emotions, your thoughts, how you feel in your body. Mindfulness can reduce stress and help you take on challenges. Click here to learn more.

4. Eat a balanced diet. Eating brain-healthy foods like fatty fish and nuts alongside a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can boost mental health. Avoid drinking excessively or smoking tobacco, as alcohol is a depressant and smoking can increase tension or even mask mental health concerns.

5. Create a calming routine. Does soft music calm you? Is there a particular smell that helps ease your anxiety? Perhaps a morning walk in the sun helps you feel ready for the day. Finding healthy ways to appeal to your senses can help you cope with the stress of day-to-day life.
If you are struggling with your mental health, your Vera care team is here to help. To make an appointment with a Vera provider or health coach, click here or call (928) 774-3985.

aimswebPLUS
Hello All,
Thank you for signing up to administer the TestNav portion of aimswebPLUS.
Please remember that students can now login to take the tests through Clever. Please have them follow these
directions...
  • On their iPads, have students launch the Clever app
  • Have students scan their Clever badges or click Log in with username/password to log in manually
  • Under FUSD Links, have the students click TestNav
  • Rotate iPad so that it is horizontal and click the “Sign in with Clever button
  • Students should now be logged into TestNav!
They logged in this way during the Winter Benchmark, but it is still relatively new. We do not have to use/print login tickets this way.
I will make sure the tests are turned on each morning. If you decided to change the time you plan to administer, please let me know so I can make sure the correct tests are unlocked.
We plan for the students to take the test in their regular classrooms. I have just included Jackie and Sarah in case they are needed to administer to any of their students. We will be picking students up for make-ups the week of May 15th. If you want the data before then, please feel free to have the students make up the tests in your class.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Heather Overton

Thank you, Kristie Jones, for beautifying our school all year long with creative and inspiring bulletin boards.

Teachers, I am genuinely impressed with your passion and continued efforts to set each Mustang up for success as they progress through grades.  Your professionalism and valued feedback is honored in the process of class placements!  Each year we try to make it better. I am really excited about how placements clearly reflect our desire for equity, fit and balance for all we must juggle.  Thank you for making the time to further improve our process with these CTs.  Together, we rise! Well done!!

This week begins my 1:1, 15 min appointments with each teacher.  I am so excited to make the time to:

1)  Reflect on professional accomplishments of 2022/23
2)  Discuss professional ambitions for 2023/24
3)  Review new Frontline sign off process and 2nd observation waivers where applicable.
6)  Provide you with the 2022/23 Final walk-through checkout sheet to be submitted during walk-through before leaving on Friday, May 26th
7)  Listen to your innovative ideas to elevate our school moving forward.

Please bring your computer. I do not need your lesson plans. Please see the schedule (below - working on it this weekend).
If there is a conflict, please note on the sheet so I can rearrange the schedule.  Please also know that I am starting this early due to the unpredictable demands of each day.  It is possible the schedule will be disrupted with disruptive behaviors.  Thank you in advance for your flexibility!
