I genuinely thank each of you for all you did for each other and for our students during what was yet another historic week in educating students through a national tragedy. You were genuine, honest and hopeful. While there is no playbook, your professionalism and desire to find a lesson in the unthinkable was important and impressive. As I have said many time, there is no other group of educators and colleagues I would rather navigate these unpredictable waters with. I mean it!
Thank you all for you attention during our important staff meeting on Friday. I am so glad we were able to showcase the ideas and progress your school committees have accomplished in the first semester. We are ready to move forward with our action plans, monthly celebrations, continued learning and growing throughout our 2nd semester. Together, we rise! #MarshallElevatED
School Improvement
As Ms. Mijares covered in our staff meeting, we have divided the survey up into sections to save you much time. That said, if you wish to provide feedback on all 6 principles, you are more than welcome to complete the entire survey by choosing last name starts with "A".
ALL STAFF: Please complete your section of the Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) by Wednesday, January 20th so your school improvement committee can gather and analyze the data before our Jan. 28 meeting with district personnel.
YOUR INPUT IS VALUED! Have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Restorative Practices
Restorative Practices, sometimes called Restorative Justice, at its heart invites us to engage with students, parents/caregivers, and colleagues in a way that honors the inherent worth and dignity of all individuals so that everyone can thrive and grow to their full potential. We interact with students in ways that nurtures, guides, and supports. It challenges traditional power dynamics.
- Autonomy: a sense of personal control and empowerment
- Order: a sense of trust about the world we live in and how it works
- Relatedness: a sense of connection and where we fit in our relationships
- Culturally Inclusive Pedagogy: decisions are made that honor and respect all people regardless of their race, ethnicity, language, gender, sexual orientation, income, or ability
- Full Participation for All Members of the Community: work to blend Restorative Practices, discipline, and instructional needs; allow students to have equitable participation. This is not limited to students only. All who have stake in the decisions being made should be invited so that their voices are heard. Place a priority on the involvement of parents, caregivers, and family members as essential members of the learning community.
FUSD continues to update the COVID playbook as we navigate moving forward, safely. Vaccine sing up info. has been sent to you via email. Please be patient if you did not get an appointment (I couldn't). I am told there are enough vaccines for all educators in this roll out. Thank you for your patience.
Thank you Mrs. Janeway for your work on our Attendance Matters Plan. You all have access to the plan HERE and we will get it on THE HUB this week. You also have access to our Attendance Watchlist
~Thank you, Ms. Mijares for all of the hard work you put into coordinating a virtual spelling bee for our students. Thank you, teachers who participated.
