Happy Parent/Teacher Conference &
Fall Break week!
Thank you for your consistent efforts to achieve 100% participation in our P/T conferences. Each teacher will submit their % participation when we return from Fall Break so please keep track for us. While there is a friendly competition bruing, we really want to be able to track our family engagement with our conferences. Please also use the PTO Invitations that have been provided to you to help us get the word out to our families about our upcoming Nov. 2nd PTO meeting at 4pm! Hand them out at your conference if the families are interested!
You deserve a break and then some! What an amazing 1st quarter. Together, we have overcome many NEW challenges and some familiar ones. Thank you for your collaboration and problem solving mindset. I hope you enjoy your fall break and come ready for a successful and productive 2nd quarter where we will revitalize our PTO, provide family engagement opportunities, continue with Magnet Monday, and even introduce our tri-school fundraising competition selling discount cards for $10. The cards are LEGIT!!! Way better than any others being sold around town. You will love the discounts included!

There is a new trend going around from a series on Netflix called “Squid Games”. This is show has a lot of graphic violence in it that is based around kid games and is not suitable for kids. Some Marshall students are talking about this series and playing games from it during break and recess. While the games are school appropriate, the context behind it is not. The 5th grade team crafted a message to send to parents to make them aware of this situation. Please be mindful of "Squid Games" and feel free to pass along the following messaging if you hear students in your class discussing it.
Dear Marshall Families,
We wanted to make you aware of a new trend that some students are bringing back to school. There is some conversation at school about a new Netflix series called “Squid Game”. Students are playing games from this series at recess, and while the games are school appropriate, the show is not suitable for children. The show includes graphic violence based around kid games. We just want to inform you about this in case your student comes home talking about it or wanting to watch it. We have provided a link below that has more information about this series. If you have any other questions or concerns about this, please feel free to email us.
