Preparing to welcome YOU back to school!

I really hope you and your family are enjoying your last week of summer!  I know it can be hard to transition out of your much needed break.  It is my hope you are as excited as your students and their families are!

Supplies

Erin worked tirelessly to order and sort all of the requested supplies.  Please do not just go to the library to pick them up. Please schedule a time with Erin to pick up your requested supplies to avoid any confusion.  Please tell parents that we were able to acquire all supplies with the generous support of our PTO.  We spent $25/student to have ALL YOU REQUESTED.  We will be asking families for a $25 donation to try to offset this cost to maintain this service to our teachers, students and families.  If they ask, check to be written to Marshall PTO.  Cash also accepted at front office.

Did you know...

95% Group - Phonics Core Program for K-3

Did you know that our Marshall K-3rd grade teachers attended grade level trainings on 95 Phonics Core Program on Aug 2 and Aug 3?   Materials have been delivered.  Marshall and Thomas are the treatment sites and will work closely with C&I Department and 95% Core trainers throughout this year!  We are so excited to bring this (over $14,000.00) program and pedagogy to our site!

LETRS Vol. I and Vol. II

Did you know that 17/18 (94.5%) of our classroom teachers have elected to be enrolled in either LETRS Vol. I or Vol. II this school year?  I am so proud of this growth mindset and the supports we will receive from CCESA in our partnership on putting our professional development into practice!  Teachers grow, kids win!

BRYS Grant
(Building Resilient Youth & Schools)

Did you know that I have been very aggressively seeking a partnership with CCESA and multiple community supporters to provide support in addressing behavior and mental health for our students and staff and disrupted learning? Your C.A.R.E.S. team meetings with CCESA coordinators on Friday, Aug. 12 at 1pm.  More exciting announcements to come as we work to provide high quality, evidence-based mental health promotion, prevention, and interventions to educators, students and families!  A mental/behavioral health specialist at Marshall???  That is a real possibility! I will not back down.

FUSD has revamped our web pages. For security purposes, teachers and contact info has been removed. Expectation is you will maintain Canvas page and use that for family communication. No more web page maintenance!

Start-of-Year in Canvas: Setting Your Courses Up for Success

As previously communicated; In order to provide a consistent, cohesive environment for Canvas users (students, teachers, parents, staff) all teachers will need to set up the following elements by August 26, 2022:

  • Have at least one Canvas course published for each current course taught.

  • Home page including a brief course description

  • Home Page includes best contact method

  • Daily/Weekly schedule (grades K-5)

  • Any associated course policies

  • User account/profile

A Canvas Skills Checklist has been developed to support educators in moving beyond these elements to incorporate best practice and exemplary applications of Canvas.

All FUSD Canvas Expectations can be found here -->Link For All Elementary Schools
