Final Push for assessments and minor schedule changes this week. Thank you for your attention to the details. What lessons can we glean from the collective experience over these last 13 months that could be applied as we look ahead? The end of this school year is coming into sight. You may be wiped out after the cycle of planning, pivoting, and repeat, not to mention the emotional and physical toll of these last 13 months. How can you get yourself and your team through the final weeks with a strong finish? That's the big question. That is also what I lie awake thinking about. I want to be able to inspire you to hold on! I want you to finish strong! I want you to recognize how important YOU are to each and every student you come into contact with. I want you to know your worth! I recognize how tired you are. I see what these past 13 months have done to us all! I also see what we have accomplished and what is still ahead. Together, we rise! We are Marshall ElevatED! Keep moving forward and take time to recognize the difference you are making for so so many. I SEE YOU! Do you see you, too?

Covid Communications: The timing of notification to staff when there is a case of Covid in the building was mentioned, as in why does there seem to be a gap between when a student goes home with a case of Covid and when staff is notified. If the student exhibits symptoms at schools and does not have their parents have not filled out the form that allows the nurse to perform a rapid Covid test on sight they are sent home with the suggestion to go be tested. If they are already home when they exhibit symptoms then they are asked to stay home and it is suggested they be tested. Either way the schools cannot communicate to staff until the parents go and get their kids tested and communicate to the schools a positive test. Once a child tests positive they may not return to school until they have completed the required quarantine time or produce a negative Covid test.
Concurrent Teaching Next Year: Apparently this has not been voted on yet. Currently the idea is any family 5-12 who wishes to remain in remote learning will do so through NADL. For those K-4 there are currently going to be 3 teachers district wide assigned to teach this bandwith. As the district assesses how many actually utilize this option, and at what grades the need for more teachers and their grade level assignments will be adjusted.
Remember to spray your desks and table tops at the end of each day. Reasor will follow up with custodial services so you know exactly what is happening in cleaning your room and when that is completed weekly.
Restorative Practice Summer Professional LearningFlagstaff Unified School District is excited about our commitment to Restorative Practices. This approach is value-based, highlighting the importance of relationships for emotional wellbeing, resolving conflict, preventing harm and building resilient communities. This approach works by ensuring a consistent and congruent perspective in the building, maintaining and repairing of relationships, and intentionally shaping the internal culture of schools. Our District will be supporting Restorative Practice through intensive professional learning starting at the end of July. Each school has been assigned training dates. On July 29 & July 30, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Marshall Elementary School teaching staff will have Restorative Practice training for 2 days. You will receive 14 hours of seat hours, and can choose salary advancement or $100.00 per day of training. Trainings during the school year will be provided by in-district trainers which makes 301 an option. These trainings will be from 8:30-4:00. Please sign up on the google sheet to reserve your spot and select the choice of payment you would like.

We have another week of testing and we know that our teachers are going to do everything for our students! Please be cognizant of the level of stress many students are experiencing due to testing. We ourselves know how stressful this time is and can have a difficult time self regulating and should keep in mind that our students may as well.
Remember that we model Everything for our students, if they see us using kind verbiage with ourselves, they are more likely to follow suit!

Summer FACTS @ Marshall
June 8th - July 30th.
FACTS will be in all three of our hallways. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Grade level lead teachers will meet with each Marshall teacher (whose room is going to be occupied) prior to the beginning of camp. We will need to have rooms prepared/secured by Sunday, June 6th so FACTS can move in on Monday, June 7th. I am trying to give you as much time to prepare as I can. Many of your rooms will be used. I will finalize those rooms this week. Again, thank you for your cooperation. I understand the stress this may cause some of you. I assure you that I will be here all summer and your room will be in excellent hands. I am excited about the improvements to FUSD's program and the personnel who will run the camp. Other schools will be hosting the many additional summer learning opportunities FUSD has added to the Summer Experience. It will be district-wide Summer Expo and we are lucky to have one program in our building. Have questions, come ask me!
It's survey season! Here is what you can expect...
Superintendent Survey
Please complete the superintendent survey to the best of your ability. Thank you! Superintendent Survey
Parent Survey
Please share the link for the parent survey with our families through Canvas and Remind. I will also share it on our social media outlets. FUSD Parent and Family Survey
Student Panorama Survey
THANK YOU for helping students to understand that this is an OPT-OUT form (linked below). They do not need to return/complete the form if they are allowed to take the Panorama survey. Mrs. C. will survey students during SEL classes.
