Mid-Feb is fantastic

5th grade is hosting a fundraiser for their GCY Verde River fieldtrip. They will be selling Valentine/Candy grams  Students can buy a gram for a friend and it will be delivered to them on Valentines day!

Cost: 1 for $2.00 OR 3 for $5.00

You can find them at the front of the building before school on Monday 😃

From Troy Harris in Technology:
As Tech Services continues to work to resolve wireless issues on FUSD iPads, both student and staff iPads are utilizing the same FUSD21 wireless profile. Because of this, a temporary change needs to be made to ensure all of the iPads (and other devices) on wireless are being filtered through the student Web Filter policy. This helps ensure students are limited to age-appropriate content.
Staff/teacher iPads, laptops and other devices will have the student Web Filter policy & restrictions until Wednesday, 2/16/2022 .
If you need to get to Facebook or other social media sites during this time, you will need to connect your laptop to your home or other non FUSD wireless network.
Again, this is temporary, and the staff web filtering restrictions will return to normal on Wednesday, 2/16/2022 at the end of the day.

ASAA and AZELLA
Thank you all for your cooperation during our continuing AZELLA testing and ASAA Writing Field Test.   Please let us Heather Overton know your technology needs (keyboards not working, headphones, etc.) now so that we can get it all taken care of before April.

Planning ahead:

Parent-Teacher Conferences
All schools have been asked to host spring parent-teacher conferences virtually. Thank you for making all necessary arrangements with our families.

Mask Mandate and Monday Protest
As you know, many families are planning to protest the mask mandate on Monday morning. Please know that Marshall will continue to handle all students and staff respectfully!
Marshall's plan to respond to the peaceful protest:
It is our goal to respond to the peaceful protest in a peaceful and non-confrontational manner. While we will do our best to plan for the many possible variables, we know that there are some what-ifs and scenarios we have not yet considered. We will respond the best way possible to maintain a safe learning environment at Marshall.
Students who participate in the protest will be treated with respect and kindness. Please see guidelines below:
~Students will enter through the front (Louie the Lumberjack is here).
~Student will be provided masks as they enter...as always.
~If a student is not wearing a mask, they will be reminded to put one on. If a student says no and refuses to wear a mask, that student will be redirected to the Marshall field on the north west part of the field.
~We will do our best to keep them separated from the rest of the students first thing in the morning. If they do not mask up to go inside, we will supervise them outside. They will not be aloud in the classrooms without a mask.
~Should students or parents have questions about the FUSD mask policy, please remind them that the Governing Board has an action item to determine when they will discontinue the mask policy at the upcoming Board meeting on Feb. 22.
~Any "letters" signed by parents should be delivered to me. They require NO ACTION on your part. Most letters have been already been vetted by FUSD lawyers.
~I ask that Denise Hauer, Jenn Carrozzino, Heather Overton, and Special Area Teachers check in with me in the morning as we navigate the impact on Marshall in the morning.

Reminders Per Superintendent Penca:

Our approach and response to students who violate FUSD’s mask requirement will be as follows:

  • Staff will keep a focus on teaching and learning and acts of kindness.

  • All students will be expected to wear a face mask in conformity with FUSD protocols.  Students will be provided a mask if they do not have their own.

  • Students who refuse to wear a mask will not be allowed in classrooms and, if necessary,  be directed to an outdoor area to assemble.  Parents will be notified and may pick up their student.

  • Staff supervision will be provided to ensure safety, but not to suppress student expression so long as that expression poses no danger to self or others (other than the refusal to wear a mask).

  • Students without a mask will not be permitted on school buses or school vehicles per the federal transportation order.

  • Students will be held responsible for missed learning and work and any applicable school tardiness or attendance policies.

  • Student conduct that disrupts school operations is not acceptable and will be handled compassionately, but firmly, in accordance with the Code of Student Conduct.

We ask for your adherence to the District’s policies and procedures, and support in keeping our schools safe.
