Thank you for a productive September, 2023!

Marshall 2.0 is coming along!  Want to see more on
"The Mural"?
Check it out HERE

Interested in having Ann in your classroom?  Please email Reasor.
Ann, NAU Foster Grandparent,  is very interested in helping in the 1st to 4th classroom. Her expertise is in the Language Arts and Science. Ann is a published poet. When I was a School Librarian at Kinsey Elementary School, Ann volunteered during Love of Reading Week teaching fun interactive poetry units. She also worked at the Museum of Northern Arizona facilitating outdoor youth education programs
I hope this will help match Ann to a teacher. Years ago, when her children attended Marshall School, Ann was a parent volunteer.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Jane Reukema

Mrs. Burton was at Sprouts and ran into a student last night.  The next day, Kinder runs into class and yells: "Ms. Burton actually goes to stores!!! Like US!!"

Ms. Hattie showing an image of dominos: "Do you guys know what these are?"
Kids: "Numbers!"
Ms. Hattie: "It starts with a /d/ sound.
Kids: "Dumbers!"

It is with sadness, understanding, and enthusiasm that I announce the departure of Ms. Hattie.  She has loved her time, colleagues, students, and families here at Marshall!  She has been offered a chance to chase her career as a photojournalist.  Ms. Hattie will be joining the Arizona Daily Sun!  We are thrilled for her next adventure and will miss her K-Town contributions!  Thank you, Ms. Hattie for all you have done for our Mustangs and remember: Once a Mustang...  We can't wait to see what you do with this next chapter!  We look forward to your frequent visits!

The Kinder Aid/Duty position has been posted.  Job # 4211 Kindergarten Instructional Aide/ General Aide (Recess Duty) 23.5 hrs/wk.   Tell a friennd!!!

Just a reminder that FUSD is going through the process of choosing a science curriculum to adopt for our elementary schools. We have one more presentation next Thursday.

This link will take you to a Google Doc with links to recordings of all of the presentations completed so far, login information to preview curriculum, additional information the companies have provided, and a feedback form.

We would love to have as many teachers as possible review the materials to see what would work best for elementary students and teachers.  😀

PLCs Week of Sept. 25

Topic this week:
PLCs on your own this week. District-wide collaboration on Friday at various sites.

Thank you all for your commitment to our collective Professional Learning Communities!

Next Friday (9/29)

All elementary teachers will be traveling to a school site to collaborate with their peers who teach the same/similar grades and subjects. Licensed professionals and teachers other than classroom teachers will also attend a collaboration time. Where you will be going will depend on your current work assignment. See below for details.

During the two-hour block from 2:00-4:00 on Friday, teachers will be working with their grade-level peers to create a future plan for a block of learning that employs UDL strategies. The purpose of this is to build collective efficacy as a district and to begin to experiment and learn to use these strategies more effectively. The purpose is not perfection, but rather collective learning.

At each site, principals and instructional specialists will be facilitating this work. You can see the slide deck below (it may change a bit before next Friday), along with the UDL lesson/unit form to guide the collection of your work.

Please ask your principals if you have any questions. More details will be forthcoming.
